Often when we think of the word edge there is a negative connotation. Associated with a breaking point and usually a weakness. However, is your edge actually a place of weakness? Or in reality a place of untapped strength waiting to be unleashed!
Edges are full of potential, zones of ourselves that hold purpose from a higher power. Like warriors from another time and place, individuals take leaps of faith past edges into newfound territory that leads to endless opportunities and pathways meant to be unfolded through exploration past conceived lines.
I too used to be afraid of my edges, and at times continue to be. Like walking into a dark forest full of unknown or busting through the lined edges of a box that we label ourselves in. But edges do not define us, it's what's past those edges that hold the possibility of what we could be. Living in the culture of today makes it hard to not look beyond the edge, I find myself retreating back across into what is deemed safe and familiar, fueled by fear and the comfort of "the norm". Yet fear and "the norm" are not what keep us safe but rather what keep us locked in the edges of a cage we learn to draw around ourselves. Moving beyond the edges means taking it up a notch in personal discernment, dedication and reflection. Diving over edges means diving into potential and possibility.
On the yoga mat edges can be found in the asanas that we believe to be out of our reach or the meditation that seems to be too hard to grasp, yet how will we ever know if we do not move past those edges to find the strength that each of us holds to conquer and smooth those edges into places of gain. Moving past edges could look like lengthening one more inch, folding and holding for two more exhales, holding a meditation for an extra five minutes .... moving past edges could resemble saying yes to a job opportunity, saying no to an ask, reading a book of opinions, or taking another lifestyle route that seemed out of reach. Edges are not places of weaknesses or lines to not be crossed, edges are where true pure strength is met, where the mind moves to another level and purpose can be fulfilled.
