Bookended Moons: Let Go, Ground and Walk Into the Light of June

May arrived carrying a feeling many could sense but not always explain. A time of instability, transition, and the quiet unraveling of what no longer felt aligned. It became a month of releasing what had once felt safe, familiar, or necessary, while simultaneously asking us to redefine what truly grounds us.
Quite often, we hold tightly to routines, labels, expectations, or identities that were never truly ours to carry. We inherit ways of being from family, culture, fear, survival, or the desire to belong. Yet eventually, life begins nudging us toward something more authentic. May felt like one of those nudges.
The moons that bookended this past month seemed to mirror this process: one illuminating what was ready to be released, the other offering a doorway forward.
As we moved through the Blue Moon on May 31st, many often reported a subtle but noticeable energetic shift during these windows. Conversations tend to deepen. Reconciliations can happen more naturally. Creative work begins flowing again. Spiritual practices feel more connected. There is often a gentle collective feeling that somehow, despite uncertainty, things are going to be okay.
Not because everything is suddenly solved but because clarity begins returning.May invited reflection. It asked us to examine what actually creates stability within our lives. Not surface-level comfort, but true grounding. The kind found in aligned thoughts, nourishing relationships, creative expression, meaningful work, and an honest relationship with ourselves.
Grounding is deeply individual. What stabilizes one person may not stabilize another. This is why periods of release can feel uncomfortable at first. When old identities or patterns begin falling away, we are temporarily left standing in unfamiliar space. Yet that space is often where authenticity begins growing.
The Blue Moon offers an opportunity not only to release, but also to move forward with intention. To allow its light to illuminate the pathway ahead rather than keeping our attention fixed on what is ending. The greatest reminder during this transition is that the light we seek has never existed outside of us.
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali teach that the light is already within. It does not need to be earned from others, borrowed from another life, or proven through achievement. It simply becomes easier to access when we create stability within ourselves.
That stability comes from following the thoughts, routines, actions, and relationships that align us with our inner truth rather than dimming ourselves to carry the expectations or light of someone else.
June arrives not as a demand for perfection, but as an invitation to walk forward more honestly. To release what no longer belongs. To return to what grounds us.And to remember that the light guiding us forward may have been within us all along ... that maybe the light was lost for a brief time or dulled by uncertainty but it is always there guiding us to return.
