About the Event

In honor of our 3rd year in business we want to give back! From the start, it was important to us to help others by being charitable and doing good in the community and spreading good juju to others . Hence our name, Good Juju. Join us July 20th for our charity event to help support The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)  and do 108 sun Salutations with us!

What is a Sun Salutation? The Sun Salutation, or Surya Namaskara (SOOR-yuh nah-muh-SKAR-uh), is a series of poses that connect with the breath. Sun Salutations help to build heat in the body and are often used as warm-up sequences for a yoga practice.

Why 108? 108 is said to be a sacred number in yoga for thousands of years. You will usually see Mala beads with 108 beads to help aid in meditation and/or keeping count of mantras while meditating.

Do I have to complete all 108? No. We chose 108 Sun Salutations as a challenge to our yogis that want to push themselves in their practice and for charity. But don't worry, we invite anyone to practice this with us and work toward this goal throughout the entire month, in or out of class. If you don't get through all 108 during the event, keep track and let us know when you do!  Everyone is at different levels of their practice so we want you to work toward that goal at your own pace throughout the month.

What's the charity? Our selected charity will be  The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) . AFSP engages in mental health initiatives to raise awareness for and support mental health. The AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.

We will begin with a warm up and then move at our own pace throughout the challenge, keeping track of our own sun salutations. When you have completed your Sun Sals or have finished your personal set goal, light refreshments will be served.
